Today I was having my daily browse of Briar Press (Briar Press is an excellent online resource for anyone who has the slightest interest in Letterpress) when I came across a posting for a kickstarter campaign to create a free online library to include many old and rare letterpress & printing books to preserve the heritage of printing.
The chap that has launched it is Steve Bowen who runs York Letterpress, amongst other things. A talented printer, keen collector and passionate about preserving the craft of printing.
You can find out the full details of the Kickstarter campaign by clicking the below link and there is an accompanying video below.
I really hope this is successful, not only do I think it's an incredibly worthwhile cause, the rewards are also ace! Anyone who has tried to get hold of an original wood letter specimen book or similar will know first hand how difficult and expensive it can be to acquire one. This is a great way of getting your hands one reproductions and of course helping fund the preservation and access to all of these magnificent, rare and useful publications.
Best of luck Steve.
